Meet  Ed Bridges

Heading 2

ED is a native of Dallas, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin.  He obtained a degree in Psychology and earned his lieutenant’s bars in the U.S. Air Force through the AFROTC program.  He served 22 years in the Air Force and retired as a colonel.  While in the Air Force he completed the Air Intelligence Officer course, the Basic Navigation Course, the Radar Navigator Bombardier School, Squadron Officers School, Command and Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.  Along the way he obtained his Master’s Degree in Finance from Auburn University.

Ed volunteered and served two tours in Vietnam.  His first tour was in December 1963 to December 1964 in the First Air Commandos.  He returned to an assignment at the University of Missouri teaching in the AFROTC program.  In 1968 he returned to Vietnam and spent another year as

a Weapon systems operator in the F-4E Phantom aircraft.  He completed over 450 combat missions in his two tours. He completed a three year tour on the Air Staff and a tour in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Both assignments were in the Pentagon where he had many contacts with Congressmen and senior government officials.  He completed his Air Force career as the commander of the all service DOD school the Air Intelligence Training School at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado.

Among his Air Force accomplishments he was a courtesy navigator aboard Soviet aircraft during Leonid Breznef’s visit to the USA, he was among the first navigators to be in command of a pilot organization, he was navigator for Mr. Breznef when he visited Cuba and he carried diplomatic messages to the Cuban leadership for the US State Department. In his military and civilian jobs, Ed has visited 45 countries including the Soviet Union, China and Cuba.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Ed was asked to be the project manager to build an oil field service camp at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.  This required him to learn the idiosyncrasies of building in the Arctic.  The camp was completed in three months and Ed left to join a Life insurance company in Anchorage. He subsequently joined the insurance company’s team in Germany and became the European Manager. After 18 years in Europe he retired to Sun City Anthem in 2008. Ed is still licensed in life insurance but he is not actively soliciting new clients.

Ed was the successful republican candidate for the county legislature (the Quorum Court) in Bentonville, Arkansas in 1987 and was a Republican candidate for the U. S. Congress in the 3rd district  of Nevada in 2009-10.  He ran a good race but failed to win the primary.  When it became apparent that both parties had been infiltrated with ineffective legislators, Ed decided to join the Independent American Party.  The two major parties have failed to protect our rights under the Constitution and have allowed the country to move toward socialism in Ed’s opinion. He believes that it is time to return to fundamental restrictions so eloquently described in our constitution.
